Sometimes it’s difificult to write but not because of writer’s block.

My words are often captured and held hostage by my circumstances or what’s going on in the world around us.

So, I stare at the screen while I try to untie the knots that have snaked their way around my mind and my fingers.

———

Next to the grocery store there’s a husband and wife with their three kids holding a sign: Can you help us, please. I lost my job and need to pay my rent.

The father is dressed nicely (spring casual in a printed polo and kacki’s) and sporting a fresh haircut, so are the kids who bounce around the sidewalk enthusiastically. The mom looks disheveled and tired as she squats in front of the bushes with her head down.

I watch and wonder if…

As I start my truck and get ready to pull out of my parking space, someone in a car stops and hands the dad something that he puts in his pocket, then he summons the family walks around to the other side of the bushes, and they get into a nice van.

I don’t know their story because I don’t know them, so I can only assess what I see at face value which doesn’t make my conclusion true. Only GOD sees the heart.

But the thoughts still swim around in my head and my heart beat changes its rythym.

So many people are really suffering, while others dress up in the clothing of brokeness and open their hand to receive what should go into the hands of another.

These are the concrete roadblocks that pave the road to the freeflow of my thoughts.

I try to stuff too much into the filter of my limited experiences.

This doesn’t work.

I pray often for wisdom and discernment so that my heart won’t harden and break when I see, hear or experience things that challenge my faith in humanity.

How do we make sense of a broken world?

We don’t.

We just let GOD do what HE does best.

Love all of us in spite of our faults.
